   my daughter is now officially an arch linux user. I set up a new computer for her with a wireguard tunnel so I can do the administrative humdrum for her while she learns how to navigate a linux system. :gnujihad:

     @Moon she used it for 5 hours of call center work yesterday and was taking advantage of virtual desktops and keyboard shortcuts already. This morning I had her typing out wireguard commands.

     @thatguyoverthere I did something similar recently for my nephew. I had an old Acer laptop from 2012 that I maxxed out the ram on and upgraded the wi-fi to be 802.11ax compliant. Had an old intel i3-3110m cpu (hyperthreaded dual core) But the laptop was a good candidate for Xubuntu 22.04LTS. I did kinda pimp it out a bit so my nephew can use it as a solid machine while learning how to navigate and use a linux based operating system.

     @ooignignoktoo I was thinking about ubuntu because I think generally it's probably a better introductory linux system for people, but she lives kinda far away and if she ends up using it past the LTS release EOL I don't want to have to go through a distribution upgrade. I would have liked to have X instead of Wayland if for no other reason than to be able to use it over the network if I need to test a desktop issue she's having.

     @thatguyoverthere Personally I wanted to use Linux Mint or Standard Ubuntu but the hardware I had would've been too sluggish for such a distro so I had to settle for something light weight.
