If a user accidentally presses the CAPS lock while typing their password, would you notify them that it is on to help them save time?

I disable CAPS lock on all my computers. It has no purpose in polite society.
That aside, you can give them a visual cue that it's on when asking for secret input. Whether that is in a UI or terminal. -

Back before I had a custom keyboard I used to remap capslock to another shift key, but this is a pain to do. I have seen in the past some programs actually say if your capslock was on or not though, which I do think is a good idea. I think they all should do it.
