     Perhaps it is a consequence of conquering the elements, and everyone has an existence that isn't centered around "don't want to die today"...
     Because where this is still an issue, they don't have mental illnesses to any significant degree.

     @niclas I think the problem is complex with many compounding factors, but this almost definitely plays a role.
