“People should use whatever drugs they want”
Should be predicated on standards that include some variety of drug safety studies, drug awareness efforts and protection of children and people who have a drug problem and seek help.
Else drug companies would sell meth to every mother who feels tired.
Children need protection from things they do not understand.
Addicts need help, once they are chemically dependent they can’t “choose” freely.

I'm ok with labeling requirements, but this implies that something should be done about drugs that don't meet some arbitrary standards (excluding death, obviously).

They did, it was called the 20s.
> Children need protection from things they do not understand
By their parents/guardians, not the government.

Some will use freedom to live for others and raise good families and build good communities, others see those same freedoms as opportunities to victimize, oppress, destroy and conquer.
So long as mankind are the fallen creatures we are there must always be a balance.
I want just slightly more freedom than people can be trusted with, but not much more.

And that’s before we even get into the really nasty crap. Does everyone need acess to weaponized smallpox? Or maybe nerve gas, yeah let’s democratize the use of that!
There must be some distinctions.

The second we say someone shouldn’t have something we now have two classes of people. Those who decide and those who suck it up and do what they’re told.
Don’t believe me? Look around. -

But there is no way to get rid of it.
The best you can do is try to limit the dangers.

If there is a market for it the market will provide it…..as long as nobody gets in the way.
Getting in the way of free enterprise is the government’s primary function.
