The important bit about the Nikon Z system is that it's objectively the best system available from a design and capability standpoint, whereas Sony's E system is one of the more inferior ones. To be fair to Sony, they were some of the first on the block doing mirrorless or CSC stuff, and they bought their mounts from Konica-Minolta so they're basically repurposed film lens mounts. Nikon had the luxury of coming in near last and doing everything the "best" way based off all the lessons learned by everyone else who came before them.
