@eal @benis @rice @hj with this difference in price, what’s stopping someone from creating a business exploiting these margins
-

-
@eal @benis @hj that’s all for one bday??

@benis @hj it's what this is called
-
@eal @hj >wine rally
Drunk driving championship?
-
@rin @benis @cell @eal @rice @hj no, it's tax evasion
t. sent alcohol to finland and tried to wrap my head around the implications
-
@eal @cell @benis @hj @rice is it bootlegging if it's legitimate alcohol mailed from another eu country though?
-
@cell @benis @rice @hj that's what the estonians are doing
in theory you should be able to order by mail from anywhere in the EU, and I did do so from poland a couple of times, but customs has cracked down on alcohol bootlegging recently
-
@lain @benis @cell @eal @rin @hj a lot of things are funded by taxes from gambling and alcohol, like our governmental ”business aid foundation” that angel invests into bullshit from ”dirty taxes”.
-
@rice @benis @cell @eal @rin @hj at least germany created the champagne text to built its warfleet
-
@lain @benis @cell @eal @hj @rin if you put it this way it really sounds like a 4 y-o came up with the idea
-
@hj @benis @cell @eal @rice @rin i need to diet for that
-
@lain @benis @cell @eal @rice @rin it was delicious and I think I still have some left. I still have the box too. When are you mailing yourself here?
-
@rin @benis @cell @hj @rice So the alcohol situation here is a bit of a mess
The gubmint is on a mission to protect each and every finn from the dangers of alcohol and the legislation is strict (no alcohol sale after 21, state monopoly liquor shops not open on sundays, etc etc)
Alcohol is also highly taxed and it's a good source of income to the state, increasing the tax doesn't affect consumption much so they can just yank that cord whenever budget is in a deficit
The strict legislation also extends beyond EU rules, which is technically illegal but the protection mission overrules everything, finland is a good boy and follows any other EU rules to the letter
So they have a mess of laws that make the mailing not "legitimate" and confiscate postal packages until the online seller agrees to pay finnish tax
Due to all of this, it's a national tradition to go to estonia to haul booze as it's legal to bring any amounts for personal use
goddamnit I got kicked from tf2 for afk again
-
@lain @benis @cell @eal @rice @rin start doing cardio like I do, fatty.
-
@rice @benis @cell @hj @rin just like finland in a microcosm!
-
@eal @rin @benis @cell @hj exactly the same for estonia but it’s our national tradition to go to latvia for booze
-
@rice @benis @eal @rin @hj its vodka bottles all the way down
-
@rice @benis @eal @rin @hj so where do latvians go for cheap alcohol?
-
@cell @benis @eal @rin @hj i heard they go even further south
