It's been decriminalized basically everywhere, but there's federal laws on the books that say that using an illegal drug while owning guns is a felony, so they destroyed his very profitable youtube business and took away many thousands of dollars worth of rare guns.

One popular theory is that law enforcement suspected it was a business partner dispute, but they couldn't nail anyone on the murder charge, so they got pissed off and tried to dig up whatever they could.
