@Zerglingman @mangeurdenuage >college degree will not make you a wagecuck even doe everyone who ever got a college degree had to work for an hourly wage to justify it
-
@lina @Zerglingman @mangeurdenuage Yeah that's complete fucking bullshit and probably a cope post.
You can jump into an electrician trade school, get paid to be trained, and then start out in a 60-80k job all inside 6 months. If you're any good and willing to travel: double it.
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina >You can jump into an electrician trade school, get paid to be trained
Fuck off boomer. I can tell you straight up that doesn't exist in my state, pretty sure it doesn't exist in my country.
Apprenticeships still exist but they're EXTREMELY fucking rare and tend to be filled within hours at most.
In truth, I can pay like $300/yr for that training, which is pretty damn good compared to all the other options. I'm still drawing blanks by the end of the year, that's probably what I'll do.
-
@akorenchkin @Zerglingman @mangeurdenuage vocational schools have always been the real place to learn how to make sure you won't go hungry
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage move to russia, they're disguised as colleges here but as long as you do the bare minimum to stay on the budget spot, you will never have to pay for it since most of them are state funded
-
@lina @mangeurdenuage @akorenchkin That's also tempting, but then I have to learn how to speak cyka blyat.
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage some people are willing to learn japanese to work or study, so it's worth the effort if you want, just a matter of making sure you can at least converse on a basic level before you actually move to study
-
@lina @mangeurdenuage @akorenchkin That's exactly it. I am filthy weeb so I study the fucking moonrune language and suffer.
Cyka blyat would be most of that suffering (surely it can't be as bad as Japanese...) but I have no interest in it other than "I welcome our less-ZOGged overlords".
-
@Zerglingman @lina @mangeurdenuage >Fuck off boomer
I ain't a boomer and I'm not your daddy, no matter how nicely you ask and how many programming sock pics you send.
I know FIVE companies inside 20 miles right now that will hire electrical engineers (important part comes now) with ZERO experience and pay you $30/hr while they train you to assemble, wire and test control panel enclosures. If you can sign your name in english and speak the same, you get that job. Today.
And if you're not a drooling retard, they'll hire you on as a W-2 and you'll be buried in work.
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina Let me guess, you're a burger.
-
@Zerglingman @lina @mangeurdenuage
If that's your way of asking if I'm American: Yes.
Should I give one of those companies your name? It's gonna more profitable than deciphering moonrunes.
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina No, I don't want to go anywhere near the great satan.
Your opinion has been safely discarded.
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage it's fine as long as you don't treat it like english, it's a far more flexible and complex language and if you wish to do so, you can even speak exclusively in cuss words because of how you can form adjectives and verbs out of nouns
-
@Zerglingman @lina @mangeurdenuage
Aww. That's a loss for me and my team. I do hope the Kanji shitposting turns into a career for you, because you're gonna really hate yourself if you're still living off neetbux by 30.
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina If they have any branches overseas then I may be interested.
-
@Zerglingman @lina @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage it's not as bad as Japanese because it's very phonetic, without kanji, and because it's more closely related to English (it's still pretty distant, but Korean/Japanese grammar is super weird) and shares some basic Indo-European words, even before you get into recent English words that Japanese also has a lot of. You can learn the Russian qwerty keyboard layout (that's different on every single OS) and be comfortable in a day. You can write programs to manipulate and pull out Russian text very easily. Kanji makes Japanese input massively less convenient, and for programs even hiragana/katakana/romanji transforms are unpleasant because you lose information going through romanji. I got good enough to Chinese to have a job in it and it's so much less *convenient* than Russian, it's really striking how the little things add up.
but it's also worse than Japanese in that the sounds are harder: Japanese is almost like Spanish in how simple the sounds are for an English speaker, but Russian has the totally unfamiliar vowel ы and an inscrutable 'softness' vs. 'hardness' of consonants, books telling you that you have to say a 'y' at the same time as you're saying something else, etc. In English you raise your tone to indicate a question throughout the sentence, but in Russian you raise inflection on a single syllable in a sentence to indicate what you're asking about, and you don't raise inflection if you have a question word (who, what, where). And although Kanji's a lot to remember (worse than Chinese in the variability of the hiragana readings, and highly technical Japanese may as well be Chinese for how numerous the kanji are), Russian verbs have *huge* conjugation tables and Russian weirdly takes motion-verbs incredibly seriously.
for use as a pirate language, Russian's great. Specifically for a weeb, there's a lot of anime and manga and translated webnovels, and Russian doesn't have trannylators who aggressively use they/them. But, if you learn Japanese there are storefronts that as a westerner you can easily buy from to get the water straight from the spring. Even if you know Russian, sanctions make it difficult to buy anything from Russian sites.
And learning Russian doesn't help at all if you want to watch Japanese vtubers.

@apropos @mangeurdenuage @lina @akorenchkin >you lose information going through romanji
There's a very simple solution to this.
>an inscrutable 'softness' vs. 'hardness' of consonants
Isn't that just the same as tenten?
>you raise inflection on a single syllable in a sentence to indicate what you're asking about
oh lawdy that would give me no end of grief speaking. Would make listening so nice though.
>vtubers
There's a very simple solution to this.

@Zerglingman @lina @mangeurdenuage Would overseas include Germany or Poland, anything adjacent to those areas?
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina If you don't mind dealing with visa stuff, maybe. The climate around there doesn't sound too bad. How badly do you want it?
-
@mangeurdenuage @lina @akorenchkin Actually Germany, especially north-eastern, is decent because I have a friend there already, so I can couchsurf with him for a bit when I arrive.
-
@Zerglingman @lina @mangeurdenuage >how badly do you want it
So so bad, darling.
Real talk, I'll get in touch with my guy in Germany and see what their status is. Probably won't hear anything until Monday.
If you're curious the company is Assmann Electronic GmbH. We do work with their american branch(es) and another one of their subsidiaries.
-
@akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage @lina Assmann lol
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage ass
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage what an assclown
-
@akorenchkin @lina @Zerglingman @mangeurdenuage
But I like moonrunes (イエイ!)
-
@teknomunk @mangeurdenuage @lina @akorenchkin I can only hear that in pipsqueak girl voice
-
@Zerglingman @teknomunk @akorenchkin @mangeurdenuage that's just every vtuber out here
-
@lina @teknomunk @mangeurdenuage @akorenchkin Yes, obviously.
-
@Zerglingman @akorenchkin @lina @mangeurdenuage
I'm sad that florisboard doesn't have full Kanji support yet, just hiragana and katakana entry. Google keyboard has support, but then google gets a copy of everything I write on my phone.
-
@teknomunk @akorenchkin @lina @mangeurdenuage mozc. In 4-key mode
