@hakui Too many 3DPD moments for me! My stream group immediately wanted to drop the show the minute she saw MC, forgot her childhood friend and predicament, then said "Ara! He's so hot," from the first episode.
@SuperSnekFriend@hakui The anime just shits on the manga that actually does sensible things. Usually just by cutting a couple of lines or something, they manage to generate huge plot holes or whatever. Still mad about Gate JSDF
@Zerglingman@hakui >that just doesn't happen in the manga. It happened in the first episode of the anime, from a viewer's perspective. That was all that mattered for my group and me. :jahy_pout:
@SuperSnekFriend@hakui Right, that's my point. The thing you complain about in the anime, which is a reasonable complaint, is something the anime specifically introduced. If you read the manga, you will not have that complaint, because it doesn't happen that way.
@hakui@SuperSnekFriend Of Gate? The best example is the bit where Itami meets up with the politician that he befriended ages ago, and they chat about manga they've been reading recently. In the anime, after they wind up that discussion, the politician (well, he was a minister or something by then) goes "now, it's time to punish a bad boy", and goes into the formal discussion where he tells Itami to stop fucking up the plan they'd arranged for his party.
In the manga, that line comes at the *end* of that speech; it's actually referring to the other countries' agents, not Itami, so it's also translated as "now, it's time to punish some bad boys" - most likely the raws have it worded the same, 'cause niplang and all.
@Zerglingman@SuperSnekFriend maybe because i didn't have to wait a whole week until ep 2, but mc clearly didn't "forget everything", she's still a profusely apologizing traumatic wreck with more emotional baggage than fits into the trunk of a car
@Zerglingman@hakui HOLY MOLY! I just read the first chapter of the manga and boy did they fuck up the adaptation. Anime FemC goes with music and effects and all "He's so hot, tee hee [End of Epsiode]" while manga FemC goes "He's cute, but he's supposedly a cretin. I better keep my cool," and it places the meeting at the beginning of the issue so you don't think she's in a "love at first sight" scenario. Absolutely stupid! :jahy_headache:
There's so many other little things too that make the plot make more sense, like FemC's father knowing the stepmother as a childhood friend prior to his first marriage, and the stepmother hating FemC because she is the daughter of the woman that tore the father and the stepmother apart.
@SuperSnekFriend@hakui >the stepmother hating FemC because she is the daughter of the woman that tore the father and the stepmother apart WAIT IT DIDN'T EVEN EXPLAIN THAT? LMAO
@Zerglingman@hakui If I recall correctly, in the anime, the father married the stepmother because she was beautiful. She is cruel to the daughter simply because the stepmother is only beautiful on the outside and is a wicked hag on the inside. That makes sense I guess, but it's been done a dime a dozen and doesn't make the plot rhyme, like pottery.
