     I threw video games in given that it all gets wrapped up into the same tangle of issues usually, since retards just lump it all into "right-wing bigots". My issue with those was that they tended towards hysterical overreaction to the most harmless things possible, which bred resentment and ridicule towards any and all positions espoused by Christians. Even today, the only thing you need to do to completely derail any protest at the evil shit going on is invoke "satanic panic" and watch the opposition just implode. There may have been good reasons in there somewhere, at the heart of it all, but for every serious position you had a hundred people claiming that Pokemon cards were devil worship, somehow. :akko_weary:
     
     The big problem, of course, is that this threw open the gates for all the poz we see today, because now any attempt to criticize that is met with claims that "you're just like those idiots in the 90's!!!! :soy: ". Hell, even I'm hesitant to fully back a lot of the modern movements cause I have no idea whether or not they'll pull a stunt like that once they get into power, and squander their momentum on chasing irrelevant pet issues that do nothing but alienate their base. :gura_pout:

     @Giganova8 Satanic Panic was a justified disturbance from middle-class Christian America that was co-opted and suffered (by design) from lack of structure, authority, and knowledge.
     
     Some infamous protests over cultural products during the 80's through 2000's had legitimate cause for outrage. Some were sincere, yet heavily misguided, protests. Some were outright legalistic. Those in the mainstream who pushed back against all those protests at the time were not and are not your friends.
     
     I don't recall sufficiently popular Christian pastors or influencers denouncing video gaming itself, only certain video games. I think that's internet users conflating Jack Thompson, who I don't believe was a Christian, and the vidya violence question with other actual Christians protesting.

     @hazlin @SuperSnekFriend Regarding communion, I disagree. It is not only a symbol, Christ's real presence is in the Eucharist. Christ himself explicitly states that the bread and wine are his body and blood, and gives a commandment to eat them in commemoration of him (Matthew 26:26-28, Luke 22:19-20). 1 Corinthians 10 and 11 are also very explicit regarding the Eucharist's real link to Christ. As for baptism, do you refer to baptism of the holy spirit or baptism of water?

I only argue that the Eucharist contains Christ’s real presence and is also a symbol.
