     That story about the machine gun crew sounds a lot less righteous and more messy "fog of war" type stuff when you think about it for a sec.
     
     Like fritz, heinz, johan and günter are trying to surrender while heinrich is panicking and fires off a shot without thinking about it. Next thing a pissed off yank is carving their hearts out with a bayonet while they still have their hands up and just want to go home.
     
     It's the kind of story that'd be told as a warcrime if you did it for the losing side and a heroic action if you did it for the winning side. Kinda badass but also kinda fucked up.

     @Eiregoat I never bought it, figured it was just the way they portrayed it to the guys back home. Even as a kid my dad would present it as “yeah….right”
