     @Boomerman This is a big deal. Having flown w/ chinks/Koreans I have an inkling of how alien these two thought processes are. Totally diff. frame of mind, and it’s not necessarily something you can just train over for someone who has his primacy built on an incompatible operating methodology.

     Not to mention, the soviet system selected against the very guys who would go off book and adapt to changing conditions, something the US prides itself in doing. Even the bus drivers get it drilled into us: You are the captain, everything that happens is YOUR problem to solve, and YOU will answer for your actions in the air

     @Boomerman I wish I’d picked the Yuma boys’ brains more thoroughly. Heard from a couple of the guys who were training the afghanis and they said it was a total clown show, the guys mostly came over for the vacation and tried to disappear into the country to just live like 2nd worlders.

     @Boomerman 21 months to reach the most basic, fundamental level of combat-capable….and that was a white military, on war footing, with a less capable aircraft sans complex avionics…with a narrower mission profile. And they weren’t going up against the biggest peer air battle in decades

     @Boomerman Nah, it’ll be fine, just toss a PPL into the sim for 5 months and send him up against the russians….it totally won’t be like the luftwaffe in 45

     @Boomerman Guys will say “well just don’t screw up then” but some of the things you do are just ingrained, it takes repetition and overwriting many times longer than your initial training to overcome bad/dangerous cockpit habits.

     Expecting guys to be able to retrain and wash clean of all these niggles in such a short time frame, while going up against some of the more competent (who knows though) enemy aviators that have been created since vietnam is just cruel to the young men tapped to be heroes.

     @Boomerman Just thinking of the nightmarish hellscape of translating 50 years of technical data is a crazy thought, too. I know they would make new mats to teach off of, but that too introduces errors, mistranslations, and problems when someone misplaces a decimal and turns the flight line into a cemetary of some part when the crew chiefs apply 500 N of force instead of 50

     @Boomerman giving them all the old A-10’s would be a nice funeral of sorts, if hard to watch. I think the Aim-120 only has half the range of what the ruskies are using right now, too, so they’d be lacking reach the whole time.

     @Boomerman So….send them 5 falcons to watch them get destroyed in a week? They haven’t exactly been great about caring for their previous gifts. The triple-7’s, the bradleys, no matter what operating instructions you give it gets totally ignored anyways.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Boomerman The mig's radar is still far behind the f16 and has never came on top over one. IIRC the only air to air kills the mig has ever gotten was against other migs and some su 27's. It can't fly as long as a f16 and with stingers and other sams littering the war and with bvr's I don't believe the mig would really hold its own against a f16, the f16 just would not be some wunderweapon.

     @TalmudTranslator @Boomerman The F-16’s they’d be getting are old though, everyone’s assuming that they’ll come from teh netherlands fleet. Seems like it’s kind of assumed the ukes will use them less than judiciously, just like their armor, flying right into range and getting blown up right off the bat.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @Boomerman Yeah the netherlands ones are a/m's iirc. I still think the early 00s f16s edge out a mig russia is operating right now. Still probably comes out in the wash though as they would strip sone shit and have retards flying them. Now if actual trained us/eu guys were in them and had all the good shit they would probably do very well but nothing earth shattering still.

     @TalmudTranslator @Boomerman Just like everything else, just getting something effective means replacing a few hundred ukes w/ doctorate-level trained Zogbots throughout the system.
