there is a deep dynamic in 'conspiracy theories' where people want to seem more clued in and aware than those around them which I think is the main driver for a lot of the more shit tier conspiracies. "actually what you see before you isn't real, there is a deeper framework in which the situation is actually reversed". I noticed this stuff when I read about Gnosticism and learned that it basically reverses a lot of the framing of the stories in the NT for "dude whoa, no way" type effect.
obviously I believe in a lot of things that the regime calls conspiracies, so I'm not one to talk. but I think this compulsion of wanting to seem more tapped in than people around you is a real phenomenon that if indulged will lead people to thinking all sorts of nonsense just to stand out.
