As much as I like Louis he's going to need one hell of a fall to accept that the current proprietary game will only get worse as long as the games are proprietary.
Don't sell a "game" as a whole, 99% of the users aren't even aware what source code is, sell the content like you normally would and distribute the source code under GPL.

For the vast majority of games, and practically all AAA titles, that's just not feasible. It's not like the 90s when middleware was uncommon and most games were developed hand-in-hand with the engine that they ran on. These days, games might be more third-party code, to which the developer and publisher have no source code distribution rights themselves, than what's actually written for the game specifically.
You'd need a massive sea change in the game development industry before this could ever happen.

That just sounds like there needs to be open source middleware and game engines available under GPL that game developers can use.
