Some will go mad and become utterly depraved with just a speck of power(see Reddit jannies) while others actually are able to handle the duties of something as grand as being a monarch reasonably well, even if the nature of the business requires occasionally dirtying your hands. Power mostly reveals your true nature, and while most people are susceptible to corruption, it's not universally so.
