@lamp @Gargron Mastodon is the most prominent AP implementation tho
so it is the primary embodiment of it. so it should damned well implement it properly.
that was obvious to me though, so i didn't state it explicitly.

me: Mastodon is not AP
Lamp: Mastodon is not AP
i'm not sure i understand. you're just repeating?
@lamp @Gargron please recall that AP is not only for Microblogs. places like Friendica exist. ActivityPub covers social media in different wrappers. Mastodon primarily covers the Twitter-like space, and i'm aware. however, some of the most widely shared Twitter posts out there are like
1/
2/
3/
4/
due to character limits.
i'm not of the belief that software can control people. they just find ways of working around it, if they're determined enough.
@thor @Gargron i think the point of it all including the character limit is to make you distill your thoughts and not ramble on with an essay or a dozen pictures; this is a *micro* blog after all...
but yeah sometimes i wish i could ask a poll about some images. they should let you embed images in the poll options like youtube
i don't think Mastodon is the best ActivityPub implementation but i kind of do.
i don't know what Eugen and the Mastodon team was thinking at times.
here at berserker.town, i apply patches when i think Mastodon makes no sense. it's a hassle to maintain. i wish @Gargron would just get to his senses and permit stuff like more than 4 attachments (shockingly, 5 pictures might be needed to convey an idea), more than 4 poll options (gasp, more than 4 opinions exist) and maybe, to express yourself, you need to pair a video with an image (gasp).
