   Sub implosion has taught normies that carbon fiber maybe isn’t the best structural material for long-life, enduring machinery that will sustain continuous, hamfisted handling for decades on end.

   Just had the first time in forever where someone stuck his nose up at a carbon fiber frame.

     I'm not an engineer and I could've told him that dissimilar materials like carbon fiber, titanium, and whatever the hell he was using for port windows would have had different coefficients.

     @GabeLakmann Guy just turned his nose up at a carbon fuselage for this little sporter. Was gonna do the importation on one of these little things since a friend told me about them and I wanna try one IRL. Buyer was on board with it until I gave him the spec sheet….now he’s not interested.

     Anyone with a brain and understanding of their use-case ignored carbon fiber MTB frames for years. Seems like every group I’ve been in had one douche who bought a $12,000 CF bike only to break it in half on a downhill after 5 years of ownership. Far better to suck it up and deal with the weight of alum

     @Paultron @GabeLakmann Well in aviation they’re just struggling to make weight for whatever category they’re aiming at. If you want to hit ultralight standards, you have to get your plane under 250 lbs. VERY hard to reach that if you want to have an enclosed cabin, wings, and gear.

     I don’t blame him, but it depends on how much use. I don’t quite think this disposable little thing will be flying for half a century, getting 50 hours a week at the hands of student pilots. Too bad. Wanna see one IRL still.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot @GabeLakmann there's a use case for everything but i never got why amateurs care to spend big money on the absolute lightest lowest drag maintenance intensive stuff when you're a burger meal and a six pack of beer away from pissing the difference away

     @rlier23 Taht’s why it’s so funny to me that there are so few GOOD uses of CF in the normal market. They manage to sell all these rubes on it because their heroes use it….not really acknowledging that the Red bull team can afford to use a brand new carbon frame every season and turn it into a wall hanger after 3 months….very different from a fat dentist riding it for 12 years straight, poorly set suspension and 30 lbs over the weight limit

     that's why it's used in eolic turbines.
     but that shit is not made for constant heavy beatings
