Steven Hoefer (troublewithwords@wandering.shop)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Jan-2023 08:31:52 JST Steven Hoefer That "I'm not your supplier" post (linked above) reminded me of this post:
https://martin.kleppmann.com/2021/04/14/goodbye-gpl.html
The tl;dr is that the battle that open source licenses were created to fight was lost when big corps embraced the cloud with both fists.
This lead them to Local First software. https://www.inkandswitch.com/local-first/
I don't agree with everything presented (or I agree, but for different reasons), but there are some very good things to think about in there.

Adrian Cochrane (alcinnz@floss.social)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Jan-2023 08:38:13 JST Adrian Cochrane @troublewithwords At that time, I saw a few blogposts from disillusioned freesoftware advocates who still focus on licensing. Which lead me to write my own without giving up on the movement: https://adrian.geek.nz/fossbros
But I 1000% agree on thing: Focus on local-first!
Here's another blogpost I do like: https://rosenzweig.io/blog/software-freedom-isnt-about-licenses-its-about-power.html

Steven Hoefer (troublewithwords@wandering.shop)'s status on Wednesday, 04-Jan-2023 10:17:45 JST Steven Hoefer @alcinnz I'm not giving up on it, but it is clearly insufficient. I think you touched on a lot of things that are (in part) a result of not looking at the larger context of open source software, and also are (ironically) about gatekeeping ones own fiefdoms.
