I’m working on building the Small Web¹ as an ethical alternative to the Big Web.

  @Roelant Heya, on my Linux machine I use the Compose Key (which I have mapped to Caps Lock).
  So ¹ is Caps Lock + ^ + 1, ² is Caps Lock + ^ + 2, etc.
  There’s so much more you can do with the Compose Key. I wrote a bit about it a few years ago at https://ar.al/2018/07/18/typographical-typing-habits-for-linux/

  1. Typographical typing habits for Linux
    
    Many of our bad habits date back to the limitations of typewriters. Typography lends us the voice that the written word takes away from us. Good typography makes your message accessible and comprehensible and strengthens its intent. Bad typography can have the opposite effect: it can cloud your meaning and give you a raspy voice. I first started making an effort to write using semantic typographical habits about six years ago.

  @aral probably not the question you were hoping for, but how do you make these footnotes? I’ve seen you do it before with more then one. Is there some special app or keyboard for it, or is it desktop only?
