   There are so many groups I want to follow but I refuse to get #telegram. For the love people, use more privacy preserving messenger apps that don't require a phone number. #XMPP, #Threema, or even #Matrix. Heck, I'd be happy with #IRC if its a public group.

     I originally joined Telegram when it didn't yet require a phone number for the PC app.

     Then I left in some sort of snit or other, thinking I would rejoin.

     By that time Telegram wised-up and now require that phone number for ALL apps.

     O well. Pfft! Shoulda left well-enough alone.

     There is nobody that will convince me to use Telegram; Twitter; Reddit; Signal; Facebook; etc. No project; group; etc.

     @net314r8 turns out that federation is necessary to keep admins humble
