one thing i've realized recently is that america really likes to localize/americanize any non-american media, not just japanese. for example there was a "the magic roundabout" movie, which is french, and was then dubbed into english for the uk, and then renamed and redubbed into "doogal" for the us release with american voice actors, and a new script that adds tons of american pop culture references. i found that out and thought "wow that sure sounds familiar"

@MordredSimp yeah, i just had no clue about it happening to anything but anime because frankly i don't really follow western media

@karmic It's because studios acquire licenses to media and think it needs to be Americanized.
