   I'm watching videos about hand embroidery ( :dementia: ) and it looks pretty approachable, to at least do basic designs and lettering
   
   I can't believe women gave up this stuff to go do bullshit office work. they were expected to essentially do arts and crafts with their friends while keeping one eye on the kids but that was too "oppressive"

     @deprecated_ii I remember our career aunt being surprised when a couple of us asked to keep grandma’s inherited, hand embroidered towels. They were just “cleaning rags” to her, old garbage, and she couldn’t understand why we were all eagerly parting them out between us. There were enough for every kid to get a couple, each one done sometime from the 20’s to 50’s from the looks of it.

     She kept shaking her head like we were crazy because “they’re not cute at all”….and that attitude is why she’s in a home now
