I just heard a fedi instance owner got raided by the FBI and had their unencrypted servers seized. Anyway have more info on this?
-
Did you guys even read the post? They actually say the live servers are encrypted, this was an unencrypted backup.
But I doubt their story as far as all of this persons electronics being seized by the FBI because of some antifa troon “protest”, they were probably grooming children or something.

You said they had their “unencrypted servers seized” which is factually incorrect.
-
It probably means the data had no "at rest" encryption. Sure everything in the HTTPS socket is encrypted. However where the data is stored and ultimately called from? unencrypted. It means when the servers were powered down, the feds were not hit with a nasty screen requiring a passphrase before booting.
And TBH CryptLUKS doesn't go far enough if I can't use a fucking key file.

I didn't say it was.

The instance itself wasn’t seized tho obv.

@RadixVerum tldr: police raided server admin who had a local database copy downloaded and unencrypted, hardware was seized and police can potentially access database

Except the antifa troons are often one in the same embeds with the feds. This would mean one of their own stepped out of line so they seized the equipment.
