     IDK what’s up this damn thing just keeps crapping out. I get home and turned on my ubuntu box to find it’s yet again in some busybox list.

     Honestly I can't recommend troonix if you want your computer to “just werk”. The newfag‐oriented distros always shit themselves and are impossible to fix because they are so niggerbloated so you have to reinstall them (just like wincucks), while the ones that won't shit themselves and are easy to repair require a lot of configuration and a bit of knowledge.
     Anyway, wincucks suffer too, and I hope that you can find a distro that is /comfy/er than wincucks. Nowadays ubongo is known for being shit and I hear that fedora is the new ubongo, so you might want to try it instead, but I haven't used it much myself. I remember the package manager taking eons to search packages and never being able to compile some programs on it, though. Hopefully you won't need to coompile soywares.

     @mikuphile Really unhappy w/ linux lately, something about my backups just keeps breaking it. I’ve gotten about 2 months out of this thing before it boots into intramfs/busybox/etc over and over. Reinstalling ubuntu brings it back, then restoring from backup ruins it all over again. Not sure what the cause is.

     I like aspects of linux but if you’re jealous about guarding your time (you know, the hours of your life) and you don’t have fun faffing w/ computers, then it sucks in more ways thatn the cope brigade is willing to admit. Just because windows is shitty in its own right doesn’t absolve linux of its own issues.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot I honestly hate all operating systems. Nothing works consistently. Everything has its issues. Good versions of operating systems are all old enough that they are out of support and have known security issues. In the open source world, it all really depends on what hardware you have.

     This is a nipple AND OS bitching festival now.

     And fwiw the most trouble-free OS I’ve used, across a lifetime of multiple machines and systems, remains Mac. Everyone shits on it but as a tool it’s required the least amount of fussing, work, and time - that’s kinda what matters to me.

     Mac’s still eaten up probably 100-200 hrs of work over my lifetime but my windows odometer is probably 3x that, linux 5 times.

     I think we’re on the verge of a reliability surge for LIn though, more commercialization and companies moving to offer it in-house and expand the customer base, the fact 40-60% of working age men are sexless and underemployed bodes well for the market, too. We have time to play around with it, demand for good distros will continue to increase as privacy becomes a greater premium.
