   Drugs and violence are intertwined in our legal system. This connection is primarily due to the fact that drugs are illegal, not because drugs make people violent. A person who chooses to run an illegal business of any kind will be put in a position where they may need to use violence to protect themselves while white market business owners have the luxury of state protection.

     @diceynes I think there is definitely an element of that, although if sale/distribution were on the white market that might suck up some of the appeal for those kinds of people. Instead maybe they'll just run for congress or something :shrug:

     @thatguyoverthere If you cannot sue you shoot. Alcohol during prohibition. Drugs - opium and cocaine - were CHEAP when legal. The government can extract more wealth by prohibition. Where they've legalized weed, the price cratered and the expected tax bounty did not materialize.
