When wolves say to sheep “Can’t we all just get along?”, it’s not because they want to be friends but because they prefer obedient prey.

PJ Coffey (homebrewandhacking@mastodon.ie)'s status on Thursday, 29-Jun-2023 16:24:44 JST PJ Coffey I expect "wolves"* to say anything. That's predators for you.
It's the sheep advocating for it that make me grind my teeth. I just wanna eat grass and grow my wool. Maybe do a bit of light gambolling, maybe even frolic you know? But I can't because the worst people in the world are getting support for terrible things to do to others.
*of the human kind. Real ones are much more decent.

There are people who pretend not to understand them so they can dodge open discussion. There are also people who honestly do not understand metaphors or get carried away by their literal layer, misssing or questioning the metaphorical meaning.
So, let me rephrase what Aral says in a less metaphorical language.
There is a group of people who make their living exploiting others. Their job is much easier if those exploited do not resist. Using various emotional tricks, the exploting ones aim to lower or nullify the resistance of those exploited. A proposal of "getting along" and "cooperation" is one of those tricks, as the true cooperation can only happen when the goals of respective parties are not contradictory (and in this case they are).
