@locagainstwall Well, with Duolingo, before they replaced the checkpoints with that weird path thing, I never got past the second checkpoint despite using it for a year. For Anki, I just feel like I'm making no progress at all.
@locagainstwall@Ronnie21093 Duolingo actually helped me wrap my head around grammar and expand my vocab and kanji.
But now I will tell every soul alive to stay away from it. The 2023 update completely ruined the Japanese course and added even more problems instead of fixing the ones that were already there. "We use language professionals to tailor our courses". No you fucking don't. Every language teacher I've met has emphasized that you should never EVER slack on kanji.
@Ronnie21093@weissrespecter I mean, if you can find some classes then try that I guess? I'm just not exactly sure how much it will help you. Yeah, it is certainly nice if there is someone who can directly address your questions but like. There are plenty of people online who could do that too. I'm always open for questions too as long as they are within my capability but if it's just beginner stuff there should be no problem.
But in the case of words not sticking I don't really see how a teacher would help. If it's the kanji itself you are struggling with, if they just look like random lines to you, then you could try doing an isolated kanji study deck. Taking a closer look at the radicals, the components of kanji, can also help https://jisho.org/#radical
@Ronnie21093@locagainstwall If you've had the same problem with both Duolingo and Anki you might just not be good at learning from digital tools. Have you tried using books? I find them more helpful for me personally.
@Vidmastereon@rainignterror1080p@Ronnie21093 You can still bypass that. Just learn some self discipline and don't cheat, because the only one you are cheating is yourself. It helps nobody if you grade a card you failed as good, you are only hurting yourself
@Ronnie21093@locagainstwall try wanikani They make you type your answer so you really have to know it I use that instead of anki because i feel i can cheat too easily with it
@Meemoo@Ronnie21093@weissrespecter He was never any good, that's what. That's sad considering he lives in Japan. There are better teachers out there, I recommend CureDolly
