@kaia yeah i'm baffled tbh. I know this kind of stuff exists in countries where petty theft is common, but why have it in japan? it doesn't even save space.
@lain@kaia allow me to explain: 1. Japan is the holy land of vending machines. 2. This is a vending machine. 3. This completely succeeds at being a vending machine. It cools its own drinks, it dispenses those drinks, it has to be loaded and maintained separately, it takes payment of some kind. 4. Therefore this is fine. Some compromises had to be made (for card payments? to avoid small change in lockdown seasno), but the vending machine remains, and that's what's important.
