I din't feel like the article answers the question in the title. How exactly would Meta kill the Fediverse? The only example provided in the article is "divide the fediverse into parts that want to federate with FB and parts that do not want that". Google Talk analogy doesn't really work here, because the Fediverse users are already used to not being federated with FB, so if Meta takes that away sometime in the future, we'd be back to where we are now (which is good anyway)
