Would make more sense if there was an in universe reason, like I don't know say overloading it with it's elemental type kills it? I think Crystal Chronicles tackled this and very easily. Square should stop treating Final Fantasy like a RedHeaded stepchild and give it proper love instead. IPs like Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler and Braving Default are where you test these ideas, not fucking Final Fantasy. The game that saved your retarded studio in the late 80s. Jesus fuck. It embarrasses me more that Enix even wanted to merge with Square back in the early 2000s. Probably some blood feud where they thought they could eliminate each other is why they accepted it, I don't know. I'm sure if I showed Enix what FF looked like today they definitely wouldn't have accepted that merger and laughed Square proper right off.
