   Welcome to another edition of Woggy’s “Why’d you produce this, it’s gaytarded?“

   In this episode we’re looking at an ipad case designed for cooling your EFB in flight. You may think heat sinks, fans are the solution, but this one is just ice packs you slot in like a cartridge.

   Amazing! I can’t wait to carry around 10 lbs of ice packs inside a cooler every time I go! Even better, it’s going to be very easy to freeze them inside the hotel’s minibar!

   Outside of the people doing POS support in drive-throughs, I just don’t see this being very effective. Seems like the kind of think inexperienced normies would buy, only to whine that “nobody ever puts new packs in the fridge!!!”

     Oh sweet, I’m always telling everyone how much I wish my ipad were two inches thicker! I LOVE having it get smashed by the yoke, this will make it even EASIER!

     I love how they choose a cirrus dickhead to show it off too. Those faggots have air conditioning most of the time, and they’re one of the few GA A/Cs that give you that much lap space.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot Do ipads even get that hot? I've never had an apple device, but the samsung and zebra devices I've used over the years never seemed to have any overheating issues.

     @DemonSixOne In small aircraft they do. Direct sunlight, no A/C, and rendering 3d landscapes at maximum screen brightness cooks them. Since ipads are a consistent catch-all replacement for avionics (which are too expensive for most to install, not to mention the upkeep) we all keep a couple spares on us just to be sure.

     Stuff like this really gets it hot in a hurry, particularly when the plane’s been sitting on the tarmac all day, untinted windows soaking up that summer sunshine. One I got into yesterday was 127º when we opened it up

     At least this one looks better, there’s some thought put into it. A fren might try doing the dremel thingy just to test it out, I think it would be rad cutting away that backplate so you can get better airflow directly into its guts

     Still seems crazy to use a device that only has a 35C operating limit in a rugged application like that. Can't believe that Apple or someone else hasn't come along with a 810G device that has something like a 50C operating limit.

     @DemonSixOne You’d think it would have been out, or at LEAST a custom shop thing where they do some dremelin’ to add breathing, but aviation is old school. Too many fat old men who could barely get on board with the ipad to begin with. There’s also regulatory stuff along with it, we get notices telling us when it’s approved to update, so official flight departments wouldn’t do some hack job anyways.

     @WashedOutGundamPilot FAA regulatory and cycle dates are a blob into itself. I recall someone like Austin Meyer complaining about this a bunch when ipads and the idea of EFB was just getting going.
     
     I'm just surprised that Apple hasn't put out an ipad model that competes with Samsung's Tab Active series or the Zebra ET6x. Not just for aviation use but the rest of the pub safety, field services, warehouse yard, etc business market.

     @Twoinchdestroya If the company paid I’d be down. Probalby works better than anything else, I just wanna see something using thermal paste on the back, I think it would work even better
