   Q: Why do both Ukraine and Russia use "brigades" and Brigade Tactical Groups instead of divisions? I'm pretty sure it's not just a modern thing because the US still uses divisions. I'm just a bit confused about that.

     @Samhydeigger iirc it was meant to "modernize" by reducing manpower required and increasing firepower with vehicles, armor, etc. Russia has gone back to the division model because they realized that firepower couldn't completely substitute for a lack of manpower on the frontline. I'm not sure why Ukraine is staying with the brigade model.
