From what we know about this submersible's history, the sub has not "worked" and was warned about within the last five years.

The sub failed before this week. That failure simply took several years to fully manifest, with unfortunate loss of four souls and the fortunate death of a greedy Boomer bastard and his hubris.

The kids could have done just fine for themselve if they had any sort of knowledge to draw upon - but they didn’t, they probably spent their lives at home, playing games and surfing the internet.

If they had done actual, difficult things they’d learn fundamental lessons about adventure like “One is none, two is one” and applied those accordingly. Everyone involved in this gay operation sounds like every half-assed experimental build I see in small town hangars. I’ve talked with a dozen of these bullshitters. Idiots w/ salvage planes, thinking they can rebuild a vintage craft with zero skills or interest in learning the proven, safe methods of fixing it the right way.

I knew a guy who died when his homebuilt came apart in midair on one of his later test flights. Throughout the build he’d had guys drop in and warn him about the way he was putting it together, he thought he had a good enough understanding of physics and engineering that he didn’t have to listen to “naysayers”. Dead at 63 because he thought he could build a dogfighter with a 2-piece wing spar of his own design.

There’s no excuse to ignore the thousands of pages of hard-won knowledge that death has already yielded. It’s lazy, arrogant, jackass thinking to ignore it. These retards died to “advance” that state of the submarine industry to 1950, when people died to advance the industry with novel ideas like “Don’t use external bolts to lock people in an unbreakable coffin”.
