I used to have a Debian T Shirt with "good things come to those who wait" after one release took two years lol

Helgi Crookehorne (helgi@101010.pl)'s status on Tuesday, 20-Jun-2023 22:01:26 JST Helgi Crookehorne @Sabex @yukiame I once tried Puppy distro, it had more or less Win styled interface and I even managed to setup PPPoE to my ISP but it heavily depends on version if your hardware is compatible. Win installs all come with driver packs for compatibility. But it was tiny distro to fit in RAM anyway

m0xEE (m0xee@social.librem.one)'s status on Tuesday, 20-Jun-2023 22:02:12 JST m0xEE @Sabex @yukiame @Helgi There are lots of distros that don't use systemd, there are even such Debian and Arch forks. I've never used Slackware properly, but I think you'll find Void appealing — that is what I use and it uses runit by default, I think you can even replace it with other init (dinit and whatnots).
There definitely are alternatives moving in the opposite direction — away from systemd. -

Well, yes, you could use a version from 30 years ago.
>Win installs all come with driver packs for compatibility
...
What?
Have you ever actually installed Windows? -

In modern linux I haven't even seen a *wifi* card need downloads. Literally just put all the drivers in the iso lmao it's only a few hundred kb -
Helgi Crookehorne (helgi@101010.pl)'s status on Tuesday, 20-Jun-2023 23:36:11 JST Helgi Crookehorne @Zerglingman @Sabex @yukiame just like that all is compatible in one version until you get a new graphic card. Then seek for new version, all is compatible except the rest of hardware. Maybe I'd find one Puppy version that fits exactly my set of hardware, it would be fun
