   We can talk about sex differences in the entertainment industry but, for my money, nothing demonstrates it better than observing female characters designed by men vs female characters designed by women.

     This isn't really a woman thing. Left to their own devices, women prefer idealized beautiful female characters, too. Female mangaka are notorious for pissing off progressives because it blows completely out of the water their tired old narrative that it's just men objectifying women.
     
     The hideous women stuff is really just a product of big gay Hollywood culture that hates beauty and worships ugliness.
