Finally beat XBC2.
Man, fuck you people that acted like this was anything but an average JRPG.
Now I'm gonna play 3 because I hate myself.

@SnugSmug Maaan, I love XBC2. :aqua_cry:
-
@Cayhr That's fine.
But the way people talked about it I was expecting something much better.

@SnugSmug Standalone, it's certainly not a perfect JRPG by any means. In fact it has a decent handful of problems. Field skills, Blade gacha, Monolith real time RPG combat (yes I swing my sword and hit the giant fish 50 meters in the air, perfectly logical), visibly more and more linear map design, etc.
But since it's supposed to be played by Xenoblade fans that have played 1 (optionally X), theeen it's a really good game.

@SnugSmug gotta play 2 DLC first

@SnugSmug Xenoblade 2 is more of an acquired taste that grows on you. Its flaws are very much up front, its best qualities come out when going through sidequests, repeated playthroughs, and the extra content. My feelings were much more mixed after I initially beat it compared to now.

@ArdainianRight @SnugSmug yeah i guess it growns on you more than it being a spectacle 100% of the time
the beggining is quite slow but after getting a few rare blades and getting all the stuff like options for chain attacks, debuffs and playing on a higher dificulty i found it to be pretty engaging

@rlier23 @SnugSmug The sealing mechanic is an example of something you almost certainly won't know how to make use of on your first playthrough, but it makes things so much easier in Challenge Mode, and then you see how you can use it to cheese annoying fights in the main game. Also Orb Master generic Blades are actually really good and pulling a really stacked one can surpass even most rare Blades in utility.
