My conclusion after being here for awhile, is "freedom of speech" comes with rules.
You have to "behave" in order to have the "privilege" to talk to everyone. At the end of the day, don't be a faggot.

@mint @meticore @Moon @Tony @mrsaturday Well, not really self-proclaimed, like SPC was a years-old GS instance when FSE arrived, and it had a lot of people that had been there before SPC existed. shitposter.club predates mastodon.social, in fact. But like Poast, they have tried to keep things comfy for the people there rather than do what FSE does; most places don't do what FSE does.
Moon is the only good admin now that nepfag is not running a smuglo instance. He doesn't run the place how I'd run it, but that's reasonable. There'd be no reason (besides capacity) to run FSE if someone else was already one exactly the way I would (which is why I'm conscripting a robot to do it).

@p @Tony @mint @mrsaturday @meticore I think we were a founding free side instance but every server has different tolerances and within a couple months I realized I wanted the people I had more than being as open as absolutely possible. I know a lot of people don't like this but everybody can make their own space with their own specifications so if I'm not being judgmental I hope we can get along.
i thought mint and I were on good terms, I don't wanna be hostile between us. fedi isn't the only important thing in my life but at this point it's very important and I am enjoying meeting my friends afk.

When Jim/Ron acquired the chan, getting rid of it was one of the first things they've done. Whether nep's comment is ironic or not I don't know, but I lean towards the latter considering his background (admin and janny on a splinter tranime chan for those who thought 4cuck /a/ somehow was not hard enough on hotpocketing).

Yeah, that's how I consider SPC; it's a weird leap to say SPC isn't on the free side of fedi. Like, every FSE ban got me, for years, someone saying "THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE GAB, FSE IS TURNING INTO GAB" and it's a long leap from how FSE works to how Gab works; likewise a lot of the time that some moderation thing happens on SPC or Poast or wherever, there's this "THAT IS AS BAD AS CANCELDON" outcry. I wouldn't start calling someone a vegetarian if they ate cereal and a banana for breakfast, there's a big gap between that and actually becoming a vegetarian.

I like SPC, I like how it works. I don't know what happened with sneed.social but I didn't ask because I have known you long enough that I can expect it makes sense.

I hesitate to speak for him but I don't think he's being hostile. He's critical a lot. (He hates some of the stuff I've done with FSE; even when I disagree, the criticism is almost always good stuff to consider.)

I've talked to him a lot over the years, I'm pretty sure I would have picked up on something at some point if he was shady about anything. I mean, his server's dead but you can see his old posts on FSE: he's fine.
During Freemo's "Ban all MKULTRA alts or I will block your server forever! YOU HAVE TWELVE HOURS TO RESPOND OR FACE MY WRATH" campaign, nep opted out of the tribunal Freemo wanted to conduct over DMs, something like "Do whatever, I don't care", and he was the only one that realized this was the only viable course of action.
