@p @Tony @Moon Either use entryists to screw with the protocols Fedi is built on or start screwing with upstream providers to quash instances friendly to badthink. They have a lot of resources to come up with ways to consolidate it under their control.

True, well from what I can gather, Meta's problem is market size. There are some 2.5 billion people on Facebook alone, like what more can they do to to GROW?
I think they are going to try to create meta has a virtual hang out place - they are shooting for full virtual immersion.
I hate the idea, but I do think it's what the future holds...

I think you run out of bandwidth before they run out of space. Instance-blocking them doesn't solve that problem either, though.

I mean it only works if you can throw billions around like FB can. Idk if they are big enough to do that or if that's the move, but thats a way to indefinitely corner the market. It's hard to develop data centers too, so it's not like they can fix the problem quickly. It takes multiple years to get a new data center approved and built.

Just resource domination. They can drive price of entry up.
A single user instance can be hosted for like $10/month. If Facebook just creates tons and tons of blank user instances, they could drive up the market price.

I never understood the block-hunting thing. It's really a pain in the ass. Rob Pike shows up and I use acme and Go and Plan 9 and Inferno and I would like to have followed him but before I even noticed his account, a handful of people had spammed gamer words at him and hachyderm.io blocked FSE. And for what, what big victory, what's the goddamn achievement? It's retarded.

i will block facebook because i dont wanna waste time with facebook users.
that said i dont necessarly think everyone should block them. for example if FSE doesnt block facebook, their mentality might expire
