I suspect either Aonuma or some other major Zelda dev once visited the US, found that literally every single adult was way taller than him, and used that as inspiration in BotW and TotK.
That, or they want Link to mirror Mario.- cool_boy_mew likes this.

That's why they gave him the white tights in oot.

of nothing (apropos@freespeechextremist.com)'s status on Thursday, 15-Jun-2023 09:03:21 JST of nothing @ChristiJunior @coolboymew this is similar to my theory that the "giant enemy knight" design of Dark Souls games is of a game designer wrestling with an adult, when he was a child, and fantasizing about how how he might win despite the size difference.
After Home Alone there was a spate of movies like that, of kids impossibly fighting off adults (back before women were impossibly fighting off men), and those fights probably make a lot more sense with invincibility frames.cool_boy_mew likes this. -

Mega Man is also short. I think it’s about striking a dynamic between the mc, his enemies, and the world they’re in.cool_boy_mew likes this.
