One of the things that helped me break the vidya addiction cycle was mocking boomers and their TV until they pointed out that I too was aimlessly staring at a box during every scrap of free time I had.

These waveforms decrease critical thinking, making us more susceptible to suggestion.
Playing videogames is a more active engagement of our brains because we are participating and making decisions, as well as using motor skills. 🧐 -

That leaves simulators, at least, but the rest is basically masturbation when you could be polishing a more useful skill.
Someday you just look back and wish you could get those hours back, I feel dumb next to guys who spent their time wiser, and I was never that much of a gamer to begin with .

My nephew has been learning how to make horse saddles, that too is a grind, technically. But they’re learning something useful that will serve them all their lives, and bring in some funding should they want it.
I’d rather have 500 hours welding in the backyard than beating dark souls. That’s the point. There are good uses of your lifespan and poor ones, and it’s a very difficult thing to cultivate the discipline to use it wisely.
