There's a terrifying new study about young men going around in the news in Germany atm.
This is just an observation as a dad of two boys (6 and 10).
In kindergarden and elemtary school, there are a lot of boys in this camp:
Super competitive, selfish, it's all about them. Strength, speed and power is something they strive for even at a very young age. There are boys colors and girls colors. There are games only boys play. Long hair means girl, etc. I was shocked that this shit still exists.

@Marco having kids showed me pretty clearly what I already assumed. You have to actively turn them into homophobes. They understand love as a feeling and automatically apply it to any partnership form unless you tell them otherwise. We didn’t teach them to be open minded. Kids are super open minded by default.

@bastianallgeier I was shocked by this report, too. As a queer person, I was also worried about the bit that said that almost 50 percent find the open showing of affection among same-sex couples in public offensive. So despite marriage for all, and all the other gains we've achieved over the last 30+ years, a good portion of the young generation is very much stuck in views that I would put in the 1950, not in the year 2023. I was also appalled about the part about violence against the (female) partner.
And at the same time, in my local community, I see a lot more dads walk around with babies in trollies than about 10 years ago, when there were still mostly mothers doing this. But my area is also one where mostly people with higher education reside. But the contradiction still baffles me.
How do your boys take this competitive atmosphere in their respective kindergarden/class environment?
