Apparently, I had hard-coded the ".png" in FSE's nginx config for serving emchichos as static files, a holdover from when they were (because Mastodon took years to implement "sometimes it is a GIF") required by the software to be PNG files, and that line still survived, so balormo was serving those files instead of nginx just looking at the filesystem, and for some reason, balormo was putting "cache-control: public, no-cache" in the damned headers, for static files.

Anyway, those letters, which are GIFs, should now be getting cached instead of constantly refetched because why did balormo do that. (Maybe it doesn't any more, we're on an old version.)
