@essie i am a pretty poor reader and i've read almost all those books yeah
-
@Moon @essie I read some of those books after 16, I don't see anything wrong with doing this. Not everyone had a good education or the information needed to read some of them sooner. I think it just shows the poor state of the education system now.

nothing wrong with any of those books or anything but if you’re PROUD of having read them past the age of 16…….. moron lmao

@essie @Moon So, based upon his wiki history, it looks like this guy was probably too busy learning guitar and piano, and getting a black belt in jiu jitsu at some point. He also grew up in Russia, moving to the US at 11. I'd probably cut him some slack based on that.
I guess it doesn't come across as funny to me because I don't have any context and it just looks like he is sharing his reading list and his reading goals. Inviting his audience to read along with him and to suggest books to him. Even if his list is a google search. I feel like this is a good thing to encourage people to be doing given the state of education and reading these days.
Mind you, his podcast might be funny in a bad way.

@sim @Moon power to him but i am only human and can’t help but poke a bit of fun at a 30-something year old man who’s *entire* reading list for the year is made up of high school required reading or entry-level adult literature - not having the curiosity to look beyond that just doesn’t impress me

@sim @Moon i’m strictly speaking very poorly educated (8th grade level if im remembering the american grade system correctly) + havent read all of them myself, and i get there are a million reasons someone might not have (esp given how little people read now lol), but like, publishing a reading list made up entirely of the google results for “famous books” as a grown man and not having the self awareness to realise it looks a bit silly is just vv funny to me
