"I have never understood the obsession with seeing yourself in a movie, not in any meaningful way, but purely based upon looks. I don't care what a character looks like, what matters is who they are. What connects me to a character is their thought process, their motivations, the decisions they make over the course of a story."
They also have to make some sense within the worldbuilding of the story for me, otherwise it pulls me out of the story being told. But there really are more interesting aspects of characters than how they look, whether they look like me or not.
I'm struggling to think if I have ever seen myself on screen. It's probably a good thing that I haven't.
