@wizardyuuka Had to resort to using an old-ass Celeron M laptop a few years ago. Debian 8 ran surprisingly well with /home on flash drive (which, now that I think, might've been faster over USB 2.0 than internal 40 gig drive).

The SSD on the 110 dollarydoo refurb laptop decided to die after about half a year of use. That one was only a "youtube" machine, so no biggie.
It still boots from a live USB, so hopefully it's just the drive itself, rather than an issue with the motherboard. Worst case scenario it'll work from a flash drive and another infidel shall embrace Linux.
