     @icedquinn I was at a fancy restaurant a month or so ago and we were next to a table of some guys who were talking loudly, they were bragging about bribing nancy pelosi over electric car stuff. I don't remember the details, but they literally said bribe haha.

     @lain @icedquinn what's your position on lobbying? I admit that it's necessary because politicians don't know anything and need people from industries to explain why the industry is important, but using money to gain access has obvious problems.

     @lain @icedquinn I don't know how you can say it's the only reason, if you gatekeep it by donation, then obviously it's going to bias toward established players and deep pockets.

     @Moon @icedquinn i guess it's self-fulfilling, if it was not effective nobody would do it (well, unless gaslit into thinking it works #ivoted). The effects of lobbying have been a catastrophe for everyone but the root issue is that there's somebody to lobby, who can decide on policy with nearly absolute power. Politics is always a war, and in democracies it's a war of all against all.

     @Moon @icedquinn @colinsmatt11 i think it's a whole wrong way of thinking that lead to all of this.
     
     1. the economy gets big
     2. governments should have a monopoly on regulation
     3. agents of the government can set rules
     4. those agents have no idea what to do because they are professional politicians
     5. bring in people from the economy to tell them what to do
     
     it doesn't make any sense if you don't believe in the schoolhouse rock version of politics.
