With how much money and effort is being chucked at the catholic movement itll be interesting to see if american denominationalism will return. Will prots submit to lutherans? Will lutherans submit too catholics? Catholics submit too baptists? Guess we'll see

@Boomerman A sizeable number of American Protestants have a serious distrust of Catholics and don't consider them "real Christians". I disagree of course, but I think that's an important thing to factor in. The disagreements are still very real, where interdenominational church stuff will happen in some communities and explicitly leave out the sizeable Catholic population.

Maybe the Methodists, Anglicans, and Lutherans might be okay with some sort of power bloc. RCC is very different depending on which diocese and the Bishop's directives. Of course we'd have to see a two-way street with others agreeing to fall in line or work to support a mutual goal. I don't think we'll see much cooperation from evangelicals, with no disrespect meant to them.

@Zerglingman @Boomerman That's generally a misconception or bad faith accusation. I say generally, because there are culturally Catholic types who treat statuettes and icons as good luck charms and detach things from Christianity in the process. Those types exist in all denominations in different forms (prosperity gospel, pozzed churchianity, etc.) and undoubtedly in other religions. Look at it as asking the holiest person you know to pray for you. Of course I almost always pray directly to God, but I have no problem asking people for help.

I grew up evangelical and I'd have been been proud that no apologetics in text from what I thought was "the pharisee cult" would have swayed me. So I gave an honest answer that I've given IRL many times, because that works.

There are Protestants who believe that, along with many other misconceptions about Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, and other liturgical Christian denominations. That was addressed, by me, in the very first reply at the top of this thread. Some of them are undoubtedly in our sphere of fedi. I have first hand knowledge of this from churches I attended in my youth. I must extend grace because grace was given to me despite the wicked and incorrect things I once said.

The word ecumenical is probably what you meant. I've unfortunately encountered that problem first-hand. Some of it comes from perception issues that I cannot blame them for.
