     @qwerty @AnimeTradCath I think about this exchange from the original Gundam every single time the Anime to Fascism pipeline is discussed.
     
     Girhen's response to being compared to Hitler (that leader from the Middle Ages) is (perceiving the comparison as a compliment) simply , "Woah, fucking based," despite not knowing who Hitler is.
     
     Didn't pick up on the subtle accuracy of this backhanded compliment until a year ago and I've been watching Gundam since I was in elementary school.

     A true man of the people, Uncle often made a priority of showing up to funeral services for SS & Wermacht veterans that had been killed in action and giving emotional support to the families of those who made the greatest sacrifice of all for Fuhrer and Fatherland.
     
     Historians claim he only did this for propaganda purposes but honestly you can tell (from the picture) that this was not the case, you can see in his eyes the genuine care and weight of the war on his soul.
     
     He was too good for this world.
