   i'm glad to be able to say that we are once again working with NLnet. this time they are funding the development of a future MNT Reform version (codenamed MNT Reform Next) that is thinner and powered by a next-gen processor such as RK3588. please note that we are still early in the process and want to solicitate feedback and collaboration from other makers so that it is easy to contribute and reuse modules across projects.

     the current concept is a crossover of ideas from MNT Reform and MNT Pocket Reform. ideally we would like to keep keyboards, displays, hinges and CPU modules compatible. the motherboard will be much smaller and an evolution of the Pocket Reform.

     keep in mind that this is not a replacement for the classic, more bulky MNT Reform, as the tradeoffs are very different. we will continue to refine and improve MNT Reform.

     @mntmn Any thoughts on RK3588's issues regarding closed firmware? TPL (dram init) is closed, as is BL31 (TF-A). There's also a GPU firmware blob.

     @CounterPillow yes, but you will be able to use our other modules as well, which have different tradeoffs. we won't solder the RK3588 to the motherboard; it will be modular again

     @mntmn That's fair, I was just hoping someone with some sway was poking at Rockchip to release at least the BL31 sources since they have done that for previous SoCs.
