Usually we get 3-7 turkey poults, but so far we only have 2. Our female is a different breed (Narragansett which I always have to look up to get the spelling). Eventually I'll probably add a royal palm female to the mix.
I have ducklings too. None are any single breed. Our male is pekin, and we 3 females, one of which is a mutt herself. -

Yeah too many toms and not enough hens is luckily an easy problem to solve. While they are young it's really no different but once they reach breeding age fights ensue. Ducks are far worse. They'll rape the girls (and each other) to death. -

Their oils prevent a hot water bath from making the feathers loosen up, but a few days hanging upside down does the trick as long as it's cold enough. -

Disinformation Purveyor :verified_think: (thatguyoverthere@shitposter.club)'s status on Thursday, 01-Jun-2023 22:04:07 JST Disinformation Purveyor :verified_think: @SchizoCynic yeah pulling feathers from one duck isn't too bad. I've heard a little dish detergent in the water if you try hot water helps cut through their oil and makes it a little better to pluck. Don't know how well that works but worth a try if you are heating up water anyway. Otherwise just pulling hard will work (the skin might tear a little)
